Can you smell the gingerbread? 

Once again, we will have four categories:  Kid/Family, Teen, Adult, Ravenna Landmark

You may enter using one of our free gingerbread house kits or you may buy/bake/make your own. Free gingerbread kits are limited to one per household, so that everyone can participate. Kits contain the prebaked house, a cardboard base, two bags of icing, some decorating ideas and an icing recipe if you need more than we provide. You may also choose to bake/buy your own gingerbread house. The library has a good selection of books with recipes and tips for making gingerbread creations that can help you succeed.

Dates to Know:

  • Saturday, November 21  All gingerbread creations must be at the library. 
  • Friday, November 27th  Voting opens during Midnight Madness
  • Saturday, December 5  Voting ends 
  • Monday, December 7  Winners Announced

Official Rules:

  1. Free kits are limited to one per household
  2. You may enter as many houses as you wish, but please fill out an entry for each house.
  3. Your gingerbread house may only be entered into one category
  4. Make sure your gingerbread house is on a solid, firm base that can be moved and transported to its display location.
    Your base may not exceed 18" x 20" in size.
  5. All gingerbread creations should be brought to Reed Memorial Library no later than end of day, Saturday, November 21st. (If you're having a gingerbread emergency and can't make it in, give Rebecca a call.)
  6. Voting begins Friday, November 27th and continues through Saturday, December 5.
  7. If you do not want us to dispose of your gingerbread house, you must pick it up between Monday, December 28th and Saturday, January 2.


Winners will be announced on Monday, December 7th. All finished gingerbread creations will be displayed at Reed Memorial Library through December 26th.
