International Games Week Celebration

Reed Memorial Library is excited to announce its participation in International Games Week, which takes place from November 4 through 10.
Special board games and activities will be available to play at the library, including the library’s in-house board game collection.
Open gaming will take place on Saturday, November 10. Stop in throughout the day with your friends or family to meet other gamers, play games, and have fun.

Ravenna During World War I

Reed Memorial Library, in partnership with the Portage County Historical Society and Museum, will present a history of Ravenna during WWI on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m.
Learn how the Great War impacted our local community with stories behind the businesses and people during that time.
No registration is required. Please note that this event will take place at the Portage County Historical Society, located at 6549 N. Chestnut St, Ravenna. No registration required.

 

Saturday Walking Tour

Reed Memorial Library in partnership with Main Street Ravenna, will present a walking tour about Ravenna during The Civil War on Saturday, October 20 at 2:00 pm.
Enjoy a walk downtown while learning about the stories and history behind Ravenna and its people during the American Civil War. Tour will be led by Librarian, Kevin Gray, and assisted by Doug Fuller.

Civil War Walking Tour

Reed Memorial Library, in partnership with Main Street Ravenna and the Portage County Historical Society, will present a walking tour about Ravenna during The Civil War on Tuesday, August 6, at 5:30 pm
Enjoy a walk downtown while learning about the stories and history behind Ravenna and its people during the American Civil War. Tour will be led by Librarian, Kevin Gray, and Architect Doug Fuller. Tours are weather dependent. Tour meets at the front of the library. Please dress accordingly and wear comfortable walking shoes. Registration is required.

Have Strangeness, Will Travel

Local paranormal investigator, Colin Schneider, will be at Reed Memorial Library on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss roadside phenomena. Schneider will exam some of the strangest paranormal occurrences ever reported along roadsides along with some of the theories behind these stories. Schneider, also known as the Crypto-Kid, is a cryptozoologist, a regional representative for the Centre for Fortean Zoology, and hosts a radio show on the WCJV Digital Broadcasting Network. Registration is required for this event. Colin will also bring copies of his new book, Ramblings of Teenaged Cryptozoologists.

 

 

Apple-Solute Fun

Families are invited to celebrate fall at Reed Memorial Library’s Apple-Solute Fun event on Saturday, October 6 at 10:00 am.
Families will enjoy apple-themed crafts and activities for all ages. Registration is required.

How-To Festival

Reed Memorial Library’s first How-To Festival on Saturday, September 29 from 10:00-2:15 pm
Simultaneous 30-minute workshops will be held around the library that will introduce a topic or explain “how-to” do something. Workshop categories include health and wellness, hobbies and lifestyle, technology, children’s activities, and much more.
Learn a new hobby, skill, or just have fun!
