Special Honorary Achievement
In serving the Ravenna community and especially the Ravenna schools for over 30 years, this soft spoken, quiet family doctor has shown more dedication and given more christian care than one would ever be able to accurately relate. Born in Needham, Massachusetts on January 8, 1924, David Palmstrom went through the Needham schools and in 1941 entered Middlebury College in Vermont. During his sophomore year he was called to active military duty. After active duty, David entered and graduated in 1949 from the Medical College of Virginia.
In 1952, Dr. Palmstrom completed his residency in family practice at Akron City Hospital. It was at this time that he and his loving wife Jane located in Ravenna where he opened his family practice in 1953. Dr. Palmstrom served not only the needs of his patients but also the needs of his community. He was instrumental in re-establishing the Well Baby Clinic in Ravenna where he served many years.
In 1988, Dr. Palmstrom again put his christian ethics into practice by volunteering many hours to the Habitat for Humanity Program. Not to be lost among his many acts of kindness and caring are the twenty years he served as Team Doctor for the Ravenna Ravens' football team from 1968 to 1988. In 1989 Dr. Palmstrom received the Football Team Physician Award Of The Year from the Ohio State Medical Society. Dr. David Palmstrom is truly a special man and a special doctor!
